Functions Of A New York NASM Certified Trainer

By Karen Wood

We live in an enlightened age where most people understand the importance of eating healthy and giving their bodies the necessary amount of exercise to keep it functioning properly. But despite being aware of these facts, a great majority of people find it difficult to cultivate the proper lifestyle and all it contains. In these situations, a person is required to teach and encourage fitness, a person like New York NASM certified trainer.

A fitness coach or coach is a trained specialist who can help you reach your fitness goals and maintain it once achieved. This is done through specially crafted exercises and diets suitable for an individual's needs. It also falls under the responsibilities of a fitness coach to keep their clients motivated during rough patches when a client can easily be discouraged from achieving his goals.

It is important to note that not all trainers are certified, and that it is always best to choose one who has the documentation and experience to back any claims. Becoming a certified trainer is no small feat and comes with its own requirements. There are various certifications which can be acquired to formalize one's position in this field. These will guarantee any clients of one's capability and qualification for the task at hand. In fact, most gyms will only hire qualified personnel to handle clients. Some examples of highly regarded qualifications are those received from ACE, NASM, and ACSM.

But before this, an intending fitness coach must meet several requirements. One such requirement is that an intending trainer must not be younger than 18 years of age. Another requirement is that such an individual must have some hands-on experience when it comes to CPR and the use of an automatic external defibrillator (AED).

There are certain functions that a fitness coach will perform and one such function is providing necessary information. When working towards fitness, a coach will be able to assess a person's body type and goals. This will help to decide the most effective forms of exercise and which ones to avoid, what diet is most suitable, and the best time schedules.

Motivation is an important part of fitness training. While some people might overlook it, its importance cannot be overstated especially for beginners. The start of any fitness program can be particularly difficult for some people. For such people, the only thing that might keep them from dropping the whole program is the presence of their trainer motivating them every step of the way.

Another often overlooked instance where motivation is required is in maintaining fitness. As difficult as it is to gain fitness, a lot of people eventually adopt a lax attitude towards its maintenance which leads them right back to their old unhealthy habits. In this situations, it is necessary for someone to be there to provide a constant reminder for them to stick to their exercise regimen and to eat healthily.

A professional fitness coach is also involved in physiotherapy for patients that require such care. This is especially true for patients just recovering from one serious injury or the other. Fitness coaches help such patients to come back to a level of fitness that their body was used to before the injury occurred.
